Author Chicago Mayoral Forum on Education
The future of school reform in Chicago might well be decided at the ballot box this February when voters select the next mayor of Chicago. That’s why the Illinois Policy Institute is proud to co-sponsor an upcoming candidate’s forum on December 15th that will focus solely on the topic of education and Chicago Public Schools.
The following mayoral candidates have agreed to attend: Gery Chico, City Clerk Miguel Del Valle, Sen. Carol Moseley Braun, and State Sen. Rev. James Meeks. Former White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel will not be in attendance, and Congressman Danny Davis has been invited and is considering participating.
The forum will be moderated by Andy Shaw, a longtime Chicago journalist who now heads the well-respected Better Government Association. Co-sponsoring the event are the Illinois Raise Your Hand Coalition and Northside Democracy for America.
The Chicago Mayoral Forum on Education will take place at Walter Payton High School (1034 N. Wells) on December 15th. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets for this event are free, but space will be limited. For those unable to attend, a live webcast will be available.

New Website to Track the Chicago 2011 Election
Hello Laurie,
I live in Chicago and last month I launched a new website called www.revelection.com that is features an online straw poll for the mayoral race, the 50 aldermanic races, and the city clerk and treasurer races that will occur on Feb 22nd.
The site also features for each race an online debate forum where concerned voters can post video or written questions and where others can prioritize them so that the candidates can respond with video (or written) answers.
The mission of the site is to add transparency, accountability and knowledge to all of the races.

A message from Homer Lockport Tea Party.
We need to build our own “farm team” of tea party of candidates.
Almost all our politicians in Springfield and Washington started at the local level, be it on the school board or some other municipal office. Knowing this the Homer/Lockport Tea Party issued a challenge back in August to find people from our own group willing to give their time and talents to our local community. This challenge must be repeated each election cycle, and by building our own “farm time” of tea party candidates we can change Springfield and Washington. To help support these candidates and to show our appreciate for what they are doing the Homer/Lockport Tea Party is hosting a Meet & Greet/Fundraiser for these four candidates. All four of these candidates have been with the Homer/Lockport Tea Party since its inception, these individuals believe in the mission of the tea party movement: Fiscal Responsibility, Limited Government and capitalism as the economic engine of our country.
These patriots are leading the way by running for office in April 2011 Consolidated Election. Now it is time for the rest of us to rally around them, and show them that we believe in them and (our) their mission.
